20 Mar Agronomy Update – March 20
Hi everyone,
A brief update before the end of the week.
Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our AIM Winter Workshops last week with Mark Stalham from the UK. They were well attended, and I think the quality of information that Mark was able to share was quite useful.
Mark has made his slide decks available from those presentations, and I have also posted video of the workshop in Montague.
AIM Winter Workshops – Dr. Mark Stalham, UK
That will be the last AIM Winter Workshops for the winter. Thanks to everyone who attended! If you have ideas for future speakers or topics that you’d like to see us explore at future workshops, please feel free to share those thoughts with me!

Spudchat – New Episodes!
The fourth of a new batch of Spudchat episodes went live to the feed on Wednesday. This week, I’m talking with Erica Fava from AAFC in Fredericton about the AAFC breeding program and variety evaluation program. Last week, I had a chat with Steve Watts about nitrogen management research on-farm.
You can check out Spudchat here or wherever you listen to your podcasts!

AIM Research Reports
I’m in the process of putting the rest of our progress reports from 2025 AIM research projects up on the Agronomy Site on our Reports page. Feel free to check out these reports to see some of the results from these projects. We have a couple more reports to post in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead to the 2026 Research Year
I am in the process of finalizing 2026 research and agronomy projects with the AIM Working Groups in the next few weeks. One current project, our Living Labs Legume Nitrogen Credit project, is continuing for a third year. I’m in search of a farm with a field that was planted in red clover (at least 50% red clover, not just triple-mix) in 2025 that is going to be potatoes in 2026 that would be interested in being a site for this trial. Please feel free to contact me to discuss further!
I will be in touch soon as I determine what other needs we may have in looking for 2026 trial fields.
