Agronomy Update – March 15th

Hi everyone.  I hope everyone is well.  Snowfall for most of the Island was less than forecast, but a little more is forecast for tonight/tomorrow.  I hope everyone is having a productive week as we get closer to spring.

Videos from Seed Workshops:

I have uploaded the videos and the PDFs of presentations to the Agronomy Site from the AIM Seed Workshops held last week:

AIM Local Workshops:  Seed Management

  • Newton Yorinori, Cavendish Farms – Seed Management (PDF | Video)
  • Dr. Rick Peters, AAFC – Seed-Borne Diseases (PDF | Video)
  • Ryan Barrett, PEI Potato Board – Producing a Smaller Seed Profile (PDF | Video)

Thanks to those that attended.  That is it for our AIM local workshops for this winter, but there will still be a few more knowledge transfer opportunities before spring.

Living Labs Wrap-Up Meeting – March 28th

The East Prince Agri-Environment Association and AAFC are hosting a Wrap-Up Meeting to present key learnings from the last four years of Living Labs with producers and other interesting industry partners on March 28th.  Pre-registration is required, as there is a maximum number of people they can host.  There will be an evening social and poster session on Monday night (27th) followed by presentations on Tuesday (28th).  The event is happening at the Rodd Royalty in Charlottetown.  You can view the agenda here (PDF) and you can pre-register here.  Registration priority will be given to producers.

Northeast Potato Tech Forum

For any growers, agronomists, or industry partners interested, the Northeast Potato Tech Forum is taking place next Tuesday and Wednesday (Mar 21-22) in Fredericton, NB.  Registration deadline is today (Mar 15th).  You can register and view the agenda at https://northeastpotato.com/registration/

I am working my way through the rest of my reports from 2022 trials right now….I should have more to share on these results in the next couple of weeks.  Stay tuned!
